PIHL Girls’ High School Hockey
Girls’ Division
We are excited with the interest shown over the past several weeks in the Girls’ High School Hockey League. We can now move forward to the next step with our plans to begin play in Mid-April 2022.
The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Hockey League (PIHL) is NOW accepting registration.
Eligibility:
Girls currently enrolled in grades 9-12 during the 2021-2022 academic school year. We will follow the PIHL and USA Hockey guidelines for participation in Varsity High School hockey. Student athletes must also meet their respective school’s requirements to participate in extracurricular activities. There are no play-up options.
Uniforms:
Game jersey and socks are included in the fee. The player may wear any color pant, shell, helmet, and gloves.
Games:
Regular season games will begin with a kickoff event in Mid-April 2022 and conclude with the PIHL Girls’ Division Championship game the second week of June 2022.
Game Format:
The games will consist of three 17-minute periods.
Coaches:
Coaches shall be qualified according to the guidelines established by the League and shall follow all USA Hockey and/or Mid-American District coaching requirements.
Team Selection:
Teams will be formed based on school districts, and school districts in the same geographic location as much as possible. Individual players skill level will also be considered when forming teams.
Tryouts:
Based on demand and limited roster spots available, tryouts will be held prior to the start of the season. All players not placed on a team will receive a full refund.
Fees:
We anticipate that the individual costs will be no more than $700.00 per player. Fee includes the following: practices, regular season games, and playoffs. Jerseys and socks are also included. Fee total will be dependent upon the final number of girls who are registered with deposits. Number of teams required, and ice slots are all dependent upon the number of registered players.
Deposit:
A refundable $100.00 deposit is required, along with your completed registration form to register. Please make checks payable to: PIHL

Eligibility: Girls must be enrolled in Grades 9-12 during the 2022-2023 academic school year. Players must also adhere to their respective schools’ requirements for participation in extracurricular activities/athletic teams (physicals, GPA, etc.). Prior playing experience is highly recommended.
Uniforms: The PIHL will provide each player with a game jersey and one pair of socks (included in the player fee). Players will be permitted to wear their own pants/shell, helmet, and gloves.
Season: Tentatively, practices and regular season games will begin in mid-April and conclude with the PIHL Girls Division playoffs and Championship game in early June 2023
Coaches: Head coaches and assistant coaches shall meet all PIHL and USA Hockey requirements for coaching accreditation and background checks.
Team Composition: Teams will be formed based upon school districts, geographical locations, and player experience/skill level as much as possible and practicable. Girls from the same school district shall be assigned to the same team.
Registration and Cost: The PIHL will be using an automated registration site this year (details forthcoming). A refundable $100.00 deposit will be required at the time of registration. The total amount of $825.00 per player will be the cost for each player. This will include the $100.00 Registration fee.
