Aaron Miller of North Allegheny has earned the "Extra Effort Award" for the second week of November 2018.  The weekly award is sponsored by the Allegheny Health Network and chosen by the Pittsburgh news station KDKA.  The winner is selected among nominated student-athletes from all scholastic sports in Southwestern Pennsylvania.

Miller is a senior forward on the Tigers Varsity hockey team, and he serves as the team's captain.  He has 2 goals and 4 assists in 6 games this season, placing him as the team's top scorer.  But Miller is even more-accomplished off the ice.  He boasts a 4.5 grade point average and missed only two questions on the SAT.  He is involved in a total of 5 school clubs and charities, as well.

Miller beat-out over 200 other nominees to earn the "Extra Effort Award."  KDKA sports anchor Bob Pompeani attended an assembly at North Allegheny on November 15th to recognize Miller and present him with a plaque to commemmorate the achievement.  The Allegheny Health Network was also on-hand at the assembly to present a $200 check to the North Allegheny Athletic Fund in the name of Aaron Miller.
